South African wines which collected awards at the Decanter World Wine Awards 2009 are:
- 2001 Desiderius Pongratz for South Africa’s Best Sparkling Wine over 10 pounds
- Doolhof Malbec 2007 - gold award and Doolhof Pinotage 2007 - silver award
- Alluvia Cabernet Sauvignon 2005 - gold award
- Swartland Winery’s Indalo Shiraz 2006 - regional trophy for the best Rhone-styled blend under 10 pounds
- Perdeberg Winery - 9 medals for the Rex Equus range, including best South African red Rhone varietal over 10 pounds
- Paul Cluver Weisser Riesling Noble Late Harvest 2008 - Regional Trophy for South African Dessert Wines
- Andreas Shiraz 2006 & 2007 - bronze and silver medal
- and last but not least…….Bouchard Finlayson won three awards, including Best South African Pinot Noir over 10 pounds.
