The Robertson Wine Valley stands out as a major success story when it comes to tourism marketing. Conducting surveys in 2005 as well as in 2008 with South African born Dr Johan Bruwer, a senior academic in Wine Business Management in Adelaide, Australia, and internationally awarded market researcher and author in the wine industry, resulted in the findings that the valley attracts Generation Xers, aged between 29 and 44, who are passionate about wine, prefer informality and enjoy a wide selection of value wines and trendy wine labels. Also noted is that visitors choose carefully at which cellars they want to spend their time and are often referred to different cellars by B & B’s and guest houses.
